Apple Face Recognition

Apple has made what could turn out to be an interesting little purchase, namely a company specializing in face recognition software. The company, Polar Rose, developed something called "FaceCloud", which could automatically identify and name everyone in a picture or an album. Using this and other Polar Rose software, Apple could conceivably introduce some very swish new features to its iPhone range as well as its computers and other devices that use cameras or webcams.

One example, and perhaps the most obvious, would be to tag a picture when it is taken so that the people in it are immediately identified. Another might be something a bit flashier such as unlocking your device just by looking at it. At any rate its pretty much a given that we will see some sort of enhanced facial recognition service coming to Apple devices and most likely the iPhone.
