Motorola to release Ice Cream Sandwich update 6 weeks after the final version

25 October, 2011 Motorola

Since the official announcement of Google latest and greatest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich last week, the update timeline for the current crop of Android devices has been a seriously hot topic of discussion. Motorola is among the first major players to spill the beans on the matter via its own Twitter feed.

As you can see above, the tech giant vows to update its flagship devices within six weeks of Google release of the final version of the OS. Sure, the tweet does say they will release "devices for ICS" but since it's an answer about upcoming updates, we guess it's just a typo and what they really meant was "ICS for devices".

And since Google widely expected to release the source code shortly after the Galaxy Nexus goes on sale, we can look at January 2012 as the likely time of the update.
