New Motorola Xoom 2 slips out in Verizon ad

Xoom 2

An ad was posted on YouTube yesterday, and then later set to private view, which showed an unidentified Android Honeycomb tablet. It could very well be the next Motorola Xoom, considering that Verizon has been hyped up on all things Android lately, and Android-powered devices making up most of their smartphone and tablet selection. Their latest commercial leaves us wondering what they have coming next.

The video showed off a tablet that runs Honeycomb, has a very clean-looking front, and was running on Verizon network. The device closely resembles the previously released Motorola Xoom; the back has a similar-looking speaker, camera, plastic strip, and flash design as the honeycomb tablet, just not the same layout as the original. The device also lacks that big “M” logo that graced the center back of the Xoom.

That being said, the device could also be the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 that is supposed to be hitting Verizon soon. The Tab 10.1 has the same thinness, vertical layout, and design, just not the plastic strip. However, the 10.1 has a much more premium design than this, which leaves me thinking this is the Motorola tablet. A newly designed Motorola Xoom would be nice since it would fix the tablets main issues. If you have ever held one, you will know that the camera position was sometimes inconvenient for taking pictures, and the tablet was oversized. Hopefully the Xoom 2 will be thinner, lighter, and come with better button layout. The Wi-Fi-only Xoom has been reduced to $499, which sounds like they are selling off the remaining stock.
