San Fran Police: We Have No Record Of A Lost iPhone

3 September, 2011 Apple

SAN FRANC BAR

A small update on yesterday CNET report that an iPhone 5 prototype had allegedly gone missing in a San Francisco bar in a scene reminiscent of last year Gizmodo scoop. The San Francisco police department are saying that they have no record of such an investigation. SF Weekly are reporting that Officer Albie Esparza said "I do not know who source is, but we do not have any record of any such an investigation going on at this point".

The story from CNET was that the device had been found in a man home when police went to speak with him. However, Esparza stated that neither of the two police stations nearest that address had any record of such a visit. Even more interesting though is the fact that Esparza told SF Weekly that even though the lack of an investigation was discussed with CNET they still ran the story.
