Qualcomm will start shipping its fastest Snapdragon dual-core chip for smartphones and tablets in the fourth quarter, with devices possibly launching by the end of this year, the company said on Monday.

The company will ship the dual-core QSD8672 chip with CPU cores running at up to 1.5GHz, said Mark Frankel, vice president of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies. The chip could go into smartphones, tablets and low-cost laptops,

The chip is a follow-up to the dual-core MSM8660 Snapdragon chip, which started shipping in the second quarter. The 8672 has a faster processor than 8660, which includes CPU cores running at 1.2GHz. Asus announced that its working on four Pads called "Asus EEE Pad" with different Screens size and different OSs. So here is the Info we Got about the four EEE Pads.

ARM and Texas Instruments announced whats coming at the end of this year... The Cortex A9 with much more speed and performance than the A8 and probably will have Dual-Core but this info has not been confirmed yet from the two giant companies.

The ARM Cortex A9 will start shipping in Texas Instrument's OMAP systems-on-a-chip in the last quarter of this year so we can expect it in mobile devices in early 2011. To explore the user experience of activity-based navigation, we built Greenfield, a mobile device interface for finding a car. We conducted a ten participant user study comparing users‘ ability to find cars across three different presentations of activity-based information as well as verbal instructions. Our results show that activity-based navigation can be used for car finding and suggest its promise more generally for supporting navigation tasks. We present lessons for future activity-based navigation interfaces, and motivate further work in this space, particularly in the area of robust activity inference.

User interface

Browser

Andy Lees, Microsoft's senior vice president of mobile communications, confirmed in an interview that the version of Internet Explorer Mobile on Windows Phone 7 would not support Adobe Flash at launch, citing "performance reasons." Later, Adobe Systems released a statement to clarify, saying "developing Flash for Windows Phone 7 (and Adobe Systems) has been deeply involved with Microsoft.". Since then, Adobe has announced that Flash 10.1 will be released for Windows Phone 7 within months after launch. He also stated that the browser is "halfway between IE7 and IE8 rendering engine." Its web browser will be a modified version of Internet Explorer 7, rather than being based on the current IE8.In addition, Microsoft's Silverlight technology will not work from within the Internet Explorer web browser.
Microsoft plans to regularly update IE Mobile independently from the "Windows Phone Update" system, meaning the browser will be able to automatically update itself and the layout engine.

Microsoft's hardware requirements stipulate that every handset must have a dedicated hardwired 'Bing Button' on the front panel.Bing will be the only default search engine on Windows Phone 7 handsets. Though users cannot change the default to a different search engine, Microsoft said it would allow other search companies to build an app for Windows Phone 7 if they wished.WP7 can also search Bing by voice using the TellME, this can be activated by clicking and holding the Windows Button. There is no global search in Windows Phone 7.
