If you are hoping to maybe someday replace your conventional laptop with one packing not one, but two touchscreens you might want to limit your Christmas spending and save a few bucks instead. Acer has announced the launch date for their Acer Iconia hybrid in Spain and its set for the 28th of January.

Of course other countries might get it sooner but I do not expect serious time frame differences. The price is set at the whopping 1500 Euro, but you did not really expect a specs sheet like that to come on the cheap, did you? After all we are talking an Intel i5 CPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and a built-in 3G module and HDMI port. Well that and a couple of HD (1366 x 768 pixels) touchscreens.

I have already mystified you that mobile revolution must be expected at CES, but I would like to add more fire. Watch a speech by CEO of Nvidia, which explains how the company sees future developments.

During the week Nvidia published a white paper on multi-core solutions for mobile devices, in particular, Tegra 2. They shattered a belief that this solution requires more power than its contemporary rivals. On the contrary, similar tasks will need 40 percent less.

The document is very interesting and puts everything in its places. I advise to familiarize with this PDF file (7 MB Below!). Whether you want it or not, but dual core processors will become a norm for mobile devices with multi-core solutions (4, 8 and more) to come. It becomes a necessity.

Local brands cannot provide appropriate service or marketing and can be attractive only due to low prices, especially if we speak about DUAL-SIM solutions. My interlocutor spoke for a period of time, while I kept on listening. He mentioned low quality and millions of people who purchased handsets to suffer afterwards. He added that Indian companies have no models of their own and only copy Chinese solutions. I heard a traditional speech of a mid level manager from Europe, who works for a manufacturing company. He sounded calmly and labeled the threat as temporary.

How a manager working in Russia can be sure about the superiority of products offered by his employer without ever visiting India and analyzing what is going on there. Low price alone cannot explain the tremendous growth of local producers. Apart from the price they should know the needs of customers. During the discussion I prepared several traps and when my opponent was caught in all of them I showed several web pages to spare him time and expense of going to India. Its a pity I have not taken a picture of his face when all arguments were shattered after he visited some web sites.

Facebook has been doing some redecoration to the profile page template and they have made it a better representation of you. The new Profile page starts with a concise summary and follows that up with a perfect incarnation of the a picture is worth a thousand words.

This as an example, is a screenshot of the Profile page for one the Facebook engineers that worked on the redesign. I have never even heard of him before but I might as well have spent 15 minutes talking to him and we have already covered the usual Hey, what do you do? type of questions.

This sounds like something friends should already know but right after this very brief summary of your life comes a lineup of recently tagged photos, which should give your actual friends a better impression of what you’ve been up to lately.

It seems those offline breaks you had to take during long flights are coming to an end, as Lufthansa is launching a Wi-Fi service on its intercontinental flights. The servie, aptly called FlyNet, will be available for free until the end of January 2011 and will expand on all the company’s intercontinental flights throughout 2011.

FlyNet will be available on long-haul flights and the Airbus A330 will be the first aircraft to get the needed tech and licenses.

After January 2011, the service will cost €11 per hour or €20 for 24 hours, which sounds reasonable as some three and four star hotels in Europe can charge you that amount for internet access in your room.
