NVIDIA announced today that their Tegra Zone application for Android is now official. It nicely coincides with LG announcing that the dual-core Optimus 2X will launch this month. Tegra Zone is an Android app that will offer Tegra 2 users suggestions about games, optimized especially for their dual-core chipset.
The Tegra Zone app looks really nice. It offers high resolution screenshots and professional reviews of the games. Even HD video trailers and gameplay videos are included.
Among the titles available at launch are Fruit Ninja THD, Monster Madness, Dungeon Defenders, Backbreaker THD and the first games on Android, built on the Unreal Engine 3 - Samurai II: Vengeance and Galaxy on Fire 2 THD. Here are some screenshots for you guys to enjoy.
Sadly, though, all the games featured so far are paid there is no bonus content for Tegra 2 users. In case you have missed our previous article on the Tegra Zone, you can check it out here.
If you still have not been hooked up with a Tegra 2 phone or a tablet, you would be happy to know that LG is launching its Optimus 2X smartphone this month. The phone will launch with Froyo but will be updated to Gingerbread afterwards. There's no info on specific launch dates or pricing.
The Motorola Xoom and its built-in Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor promise to deliver a new level of gaming experience. That said we are not surprised that the games slated to hit the platform got a special suffix THD. That "T" is obviously for "Tegra" but the problem is that other chip makers like Qualcomm and Texas Instruments will also launch their own dual and even quad-core mobile processors. I guess Nvidia reaps the benefits of being the first company to commercially launch a dual-core CPU, hence the THD suffix.
Anyway, among the first games optimized to sing along Tegra 2-powered tablets, we find Fruit Ninja, Backbreaker and Samurai II: Vengeance. Glu has also demoed few of its popular titles on the Moto Xoom and I am sure other major publishers are lining up as we speak.
In addition to Tegra-exclusive titles, some companies talk about Tegra-exclusive content. For instance, Dungeon Defenders: First Wave Deluxe comes with additional missions, enemies, bosses, pets, and weapons when played on the Xoom-like device.

Wondering whether to buy a tablet or a phone? Scratch your head no more, as AdvanceTC is going to launch a 4.8-inch tablet phone which, wait for it, runs Windows 7! Yes, the device is going to be powered by an Atom Z530 processor, clocked at 1.6Ghz and will indeed run a full, uncut version of the Windows 7 Home Premium.
The tabletphone is going to sport a 4.8-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 800x400 and a 1GB of RAM. At the front of the device there is going to be a 1.3MP camera for video conferencing. Measuring at 141 x 81.5 x 22 mm and weighing 260 grams the device is hefty indeed and could probably be used for self defense, too, but the 3200 mAh 3.7V battery should keeping it going for a couple of days (hours). It also packs a gig of ram and a 32GB SSD for storage. A MicroSD card slot allows you to expand that.
Obviously to be able to support telephony, the OS running on the MAGIC W3 has gone through some dark witchcraft and there’s a custom UI layer, called MAGIC Telephony Touch UI, which includes a phone dialer, messaging, call history and contacts app. The MAGIC W3, just like the Motorola Atrix, will be able to connect to a larger display and act like a nettop PC via an HDMI dock.
