Sony is Bringing Back its Flagship Phones to European Markets

Following a suspension of sales in several western regions, it looks like Sony is finally bringing back its flagship Xperia 1 VII for buyers in Europe, with sales resuming on August 25, 2025. This comes after the company’s statement on its Xperia line, promising supporters that it sees its smartphone range as a “very important business.”

That in mind, Sony has issued a formal notice regarding sales of the Xperia 1 VII on its website. Part of its statement reads:

We are pleased to announce that sales of Xperia 1 VII smartphones in eligible European markets will resume on August 25th 2025.

On July 16th 2025, we announced that Xperia 1 VII smartphone sales were temporarily suspended after we identified an issue that could cause unexpected power-offs, restarts, or difficulties powering on.

A while back, a number of Xperia 1 VII users complained that their units had problems powering on, in addition to unexpected reboots and freezing. Sony does say that it has since taken several measures to address issues with the Xperia 1 VII, including changing the manufacturing process for defect-free units, identifying affected smartphones and providing updates to buyers, as well as contacting customers who purchased their phones directly from Sony.
