Xiaomi just dropped a teaser that has tablet fans buzzing. The company officially confirmed the Xiaomi Pad 8 series is launching this month, and early leaks suggest it’s packing some serious flagship specs. We’re talking Snapdragon 8 Elite power, 16GB of RAM, and the first taste of HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Here’s what we know about Xiaomi’s next iPad challenger.
Lu Weibing, Xiaomi’s General Manager, teased the Pad 8 with an official poster showing the familiar design alongside a detachable keyboard and stylus. The tablet keeps the classic 11.2-inch display size while promising to stay lightweight and portable.

The big upgrade comes under the hood. A recent Geekbench listing revealed the Pad 8 Pro running Snapdragon 8 Elite with 16GB of RAM, scoring impressive 2,831 single-core and 9,260 multi-core points. That’s a massive jump from the Pad 7’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
Expect both standard Pad 8 and Pro versions with 10,000mAh batteries. The key difference? Charging speeds of 45W for the standard model and 67W for the Pro, similar to previous Xiaomi tablets.
The Xiaomi Pad 8 teased launch aligns with the Xiaomi 17 smartphone series later this month. While no pricing is confirmed, expect competitive positioning against the iPad, continuing Xiaomi’s tradition of delivering premium tablet experiences without the premium price tag.
The Android 16-powered HyperOS 3 should bring fresh productivity features perfect for the included keyboard and stylus combo.
