The Huawei Pura 80 Pro camera could be about to shake things up. Leaks suggest that Huawei may skip the usual Sony sensor and go with its own in-house solution. If that’s true, the Pura 80 Pro will use a custom-built 1-inch RYYB sensor called the SmartSens SC5A0CS, coming in at 50MP. That’s a big shift, and it’s already getting attention from camera phone fans.
According to Digital Chat Station, this new sensor could boost low-light photography, thanks to the RYYB color filter design. It’s supposed to pull in up to 40% more light compared to the typical sensors you find in most flagships. Huawei’s also loading the Pura 80 Pro with a 50MP ultra-wide and a 50MP periscope macro lens—yes, all three sensors use that same RYYB tech. Expect the usual AI camera tricks, too.
Of course, nothing is official yet. Huawei hasn’t confirmed these leaks, so take everything with a grain of salt.
Beyond the camera, the Huawei Pura 80 Pro will reportedly have a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The chipset hasn’t been confirmed, but if Huawei sticks with its own playbook, we’ll probably see another Kirin chip, like the Pura 70 Pro before it.
As for the launch? There’s no firm date, but signs point to June. Huawei’s reportedly been testing and stockpiling the phones ahead of time to avoid the usual launch headaches.
