If you’re after a particularly cheap smartphone, then you might want to check out what Xiaomi’s offering—the Chinese tech giant recently announced expanded availability for the Redmi 15C, which is now available for buyers in the UK. Priced at £149, Xiaomi’s targeting budget-conscious buyers with the 15C. For this price though, what can you expect?
In terms of hardware, the phone comes with a 6.9-inch screen that features an HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It’s wrapped in a polycarbonate design which comes in three colours including Midnight Black, Mint Green, Moonlight Blue, and Twilight Orange, and is certified for IP64 dust and water resistance.
The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G81-Ultra chipset, which works alongside 4GB RAM and 128GB (with higher RAM and storage models available depending on region), although there’s an option for micro SD storage expansion with up to 1TB cards. Xiaomi’s Hyper OS interface runs on top of Android, and users get access to software from both Xiaomi and third-party developers.
The Redmi 15C features a dual-lens setup headed by a 50MP main camera with AI features for photography, in addition to an 8MP selfie camera. Powering this entire setup is a 6,000 mAh silicon carbon battery, a welcome sight especially on a phone of this price. The Redmi 15C is now available via Xiaomi’s official online store as well as third-party retail partners.
