If you’re after a new premium desktop monitor, then you’re in luck—LG recently unveiled its new UltraFine Evo 6K monitor (model 32U990A), which the company says is the world’s first 6K display with built-in Thunderbolt 5 connectivity. It’s also designed for professional video editors, graphic designers, and other creators who handle intensive, data-heavy workflows.
The monitor packs a 32-inch display with a 6K resolution (6,144×3,456) and 224 pixels per inch (PPI), which according to LG means 2.56 times more pixels than a UHD 4K monitor. It also covers 98 percent of DCI-P3 and 99.5 percent of Adobe RGB, and is VESA DisplayHDR 600-certified. Interestingly, it is factory-calibrated for macOS.
As we mentioned earlier, the monitor comes with Thunderbolt 5 support which offers up to 120Gbps unidirectional data transfers, making it ideal for real-time 4K rendering and 8K RAW video file transfers, for example. It also functions as a professional hub with built-in KVM switching for folks who user both Mac and Windows.
As for availability, LG says that the monitor will rollout globally in October, following an earlier September launch in South Korea and Japan.
