A while back, Google announced that it was working with several high-end computer manufacturers for the launch of its new Googlebook platform. That said, we’re now seeing the first batch of devices roll out on the market, and this includes Acer’s new Googlebook 14.
The Acer Googlebook 14 is a convertible laptop, which lets users flip the display to use the laptop akin to a tablet, for example. Acer says that it’s also built to be durable, with a 360-degree hinge that’s designed to be flexible, MIL-STD-810H “military-grade” durability, and Gorilla Glass protection for its screen.
More importantly though, the Googlebook 14 is packed with hardware that’s designed to run more intensive software and tasks compared to their older Chromebook counterparts. For one, the laptop runs on an Intel Core Ultraprocessor paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, and accompanied by a 512GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. There’s also a 14-inch touchscreen in front, which has a sharp-enough resolution of 2880×1800 pixels; it also features an OLED panel, which means that you’re getting vibrant visuals similar to smartphones.
Other features include Stereo Speakers with DTS Audio, a triple microphone array, and a high-resolution 5M webcam complete with a physical privacy shutter. For connectivity, there’s one USB 4 port which can support speeds of up to 40 Gbps alongside two additional USB Type-C ports. As for battery life, Acer claims that the laptop can last for up to 16 hours of use on a single charge.
The Acer Googlebook 14 is available now at Best Buy for a limited-time promotional price of $899.99.
