Not too long ago, Samsung confirmed that it will be updating its Galaxy software in 2027 to introduce stricter parental control features, which now gives parents direct oversight as to what their children can access.
With the upcoming One UI update, both pre-installed and downloaded apps on a child’s device will automatically appear greyed out and remain blocked until a parent manually approves them. To prepare for the rollout, Samsung strongly advises users to set up a family group and enable parental controls beforehand.
For children aged 13 or older, parents have the option of inviting them to a Samsung family group, while kids under 13 require a dedicated Samsung Child Account. Once the family group has been made, users must turn on Samsung Parental Controls to manage app usage. Parents will then be able to review, approve, or block applications directly from their own Galaxy devices.
In other recent Samsung news, the company finally launched its new Galaxy Buds On for buyers in the United States, which feature an open-ear clip-on design instead of the usual in-ear method used by most manufacturers. The earbuds are priced starting at $229.
