Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro Launch With Snapdragon 8 Elite Power

Xiaomi just dropped two new tablets that could shake up the Android tablet game. The Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro pack some serious hardware into sleek 11.2-inch bodies, with the Pro model rocking Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Both tablets ditch the usual budget compromises you’d expect, instead delivering 144Hz displays, hefty 9,200mAh batteries, and surprisingly aggressive pricing that starts at just $310.

The standout here is definitely the Pro model’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. This 3nm beast hits over 3 million points on AnTuTu benchmarks, representing a 69% jump over previous models. That’s desktop-grade performance for multitasking, 4K video editing, and gaming at native resolution. The regular Xiaomi Pad 8 isn’t slouching either, powered by the capable Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.

Both tablets share an identical 11.2-inch 3.2K LCD display with 144Hz refresh rates and 800 nits peak brightness. You’re also getting 9,200mAh batteries across both models, though the Pro bumps up fast charging from 45W to 67W. Camera specs differ more dramatically, with the Pro featuring a 50MP rear shooter versus the standard model’s 13MP sensor.

These tablets ship with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, making them among the first devices to launch with Google’s latest OS. Xiaomi includes productivity features like split-screen multitasking, desktop-class apps, and support for the Focus Pro stylus.

Pricing starts at $310 for the base Xiaomi Pad 8, while the Pro model kicks off at $390. That puts both tablets squarely in budget tablet territory while offering flagship-level specs that compete with much pricier iPad alternatives.
