Apple Confirms October 13 Event With a ‘Welcome Home’ Teaser

Apple just put a date on its next product launch. The “Welcome home” tagline points toward new gadgets for your house. Marketing chief Greg Joswiak made it official with a short video on X, and the date is Tuesday, October 13.

If you’ve been eyeing a smart speaker, this is the launch to watch. Apple hasn’t said what it will show, but the hint is pretty on the nose.

A Throwback Logo With a Home Message

Joswiak’s clip shows hands stitching a colorful, striped Apple logo into an embroidery hoop, one stripe at a time. The words “Welcome home” and “October 13” then appear underneath. The rainbow look is a throwback to the striped logo Apple used in its earlier days. Longtime fans will spot the reference right away.

Apple also sent invitations to the media. It calls the gathering an “Apple Experience,” and it starts at 9 a.m. Eastern in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood. As MacRumors noted, this won’t be a traditional Apple keynote. People who weren’t invited will likely hear about new products through press releases that day. Apple hasn’t said whether it will stream anything live.

What Apple Could Show Off

Apple hasn’t named a single product. But Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that the star of the show will be a new smart home display. The screen would measure roughly 6 inches and could sit on a counter or hang on a wall. Gurman says it can recognize who is standing in front of it, by voice or by face. It would then show that person their own calendar and messages.

His report also includes a refreshed HomePod mini, Apple’s small smart speaker, and an updated Apple TV box. Gurman says all three would lean on Apple’s newer Siri AI.

Gurman also reported this week that Apple worked with LG on smart home accessories, including a doorbell and a thermostat.

Price is the big unknown. MacRumors estimates the display could start near $350. Apple hasn’t announced a price. Apple also reportedly plans a second launch on October 27 for new Macs and a new iPad mini. The home gear may not be the only news this month.
