LG

LG has just released the official Android 2.1 update for what seems to be their most successful handset this year... the LG GT540 Optimus.

Its only available for the handset in the Baltic region at this stage so the rest of the world will have to wait a while longer. Or they could take matters in their own hands and use a third party tool to flash their handsets with that Baltic ROM.

Here are some screenies. At first glance things don’t look any different. But when you start to go through the menus, there are new settings here and there, there are new transitions effects as well.

Sony Ericsson logo

The head of Microsoft Windows Phone 7 UK division, has confimed that Sony Ericsson are working on a handset for the forthcoming platform. In an interview Mr Ran said "Sony Ericsson are working on at least one Windows Phone 7 device." The added emphasis is our own. So not only will Sony Ericsson be joining the ranks of the nascent OS, but it could very well be releasing multiple devices.

Of course this comes on the heels of Sony Ericsson all but ditching Symbian so some may wonder if they are simply swapping one OS for another and the same problem of being over stretched will remain. To be fair Symbian is a tired old platform that has been leaking fans left, right, and centre. Win Phone 7, whilst still an unknown quantity, does at least have a bit of zeitgeist to it and is gaining column inches as the launch approaches. Sony Ericsson could do a lot worse than to at least experiment with what could be a significant platform in the smartphone space.

samsung

You may be wondering what is this Device... its the Samsung Continuum, the Galaxy S branded device that's heading to American CDMA network Verizon. There is something rather special about this handset though as you will notice if you study the picture. You will Notice that it has not one, but two displays! The second one is nestled just underneath the softkeys.

This secondary display activates automatically when the lower part of the handset is gripped and it displays the sort of information you would expect like the date, time, RSS Feeds...etc, Unfortunately this Gorgeous two-Screen device is only headed to Verizon, hopefully we will see something similar in the rest of the world.

30 September, 2010 Android

This a Chart for testing web browsers speed on Android OS devices and in many versions and this result is the final Average speed of the browsers Skyfire 2.0, Opera mini, Dolphin HD, Fennec and Android default browser 2.1 and 2.2.

Each browser has something going for it  low-bandwidth usage and good performance in poor reception areas for the Opera Mini, streaming videos on Android 2.1 devices without the need for Flash for Skyfire 2.0 some installable add-ons and gesture control for the Dolphin HD and Firefox Sync and a lot of add-ons for Fennec.

But the default Android Browser has good features going for it too especially on Android 2.2 Eclair, which adds Flash support. However, when raw speed is important the standouts here are Skyfire, Opera Mini and the Android 2.2 browser.

Altek Leo

Altek Leo The First phone with a 14MP camera with Android OS on it...Good choice! The Most amazing thing about this phone is that it has a 14MP camera with 3x optical zoom and HD video recording. There are also a xenon flash and a LED video light on board, which makes the handset a must for everyone hoping to leave their digicam at home in favor of their cell phone.

The rest of the Leo specs sheet also looks really impressive. The handset comes with a 3.2-inch WVGA multi-touch display and runs Android 2.1 (Eclair). Connectivity is taken care for by Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, as well as full range of network data transfer options (GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 3G with HSPA). Built-in accelerometer, digital compass a microSD card slot complete the list of the Altek Leo extras.

This Monster will hit Europe in Q1, 2011 with No info on the price yet.

Video Demo on iPad Below!

The white iPhone 4 is sort of like the electric car at this point, we keep being promised that its about to hit the big time and everyone will be able to buy one, but it never quite materialises. Originally it was slated for a late July release date, but that came and went before Apple eventually said that the white version was more challenging than expected to manufacturer and that consequently it would be sometime later this year before we would see the fabled handset.

Well it is now later this year and there is still no sign of this beast, but The App Whisperer has managed to glean a photo of a price tag from Walmart showing the white version for sale at the same price as the existing black version. It could mean that the white version really is just around the corner, or we could just be raising our hopes yet again.

We saw the Blackberry bold 9700 white running the OS6, Well the Pearl 3G can do it too !! Check out the hands-on video of the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 with the half-QWERTY variant. and Notice the social networking integration too.

It is hard to tell when the BlackBerry OS 6 update for the Bold 9700 and Pearl 3G will be available -it depends on the carrier, but the first ones should start coming out in a few weeks.

ipad hacked

Chromium has not hit the masses yet, but that has not stopped one enterprising hacker from getting it up and running on his iPad. To be fair the image below could have been doctored or even a setupa screen grab from the Photos app, but the hacker behind this. Hexxeh, does have a record in Chromium OS so the whole shebang is lent some credibility. The hack came to light in a tweet the hacker made from the said iPad, but he did mention that this was not very easy on his tweets: "I'll dash your hopes later, there are a few catches" , "You cannot use it as a normal iPad without a restore sadly though."

The homescreen shortcuts can be scrolled left and right, just like on the Torch but that does not seem to work as well without a touch screen. Smoother transitions make the UI more attractive too. You can also see the revamped music player.

One of the most expected additions in BlackBerry OS 6 is the new web browser. Its based on WebKit, which improves the experience compared to the fifth version of the OS. In the video above, you can see the new browser run on BlackBerry Bold 9700 the processing powered of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 was a bit short and not all that smooth. See Video Below!

HTC Desire Z

One of the most impressive things about HTC recently announced Desire Z was the incredibly fast boot up sequence. You pretty much pressed the on button and the phone was ready to use. Well the chaps behind CyanogenMod have replicated the feature and it should be making an appearance in CM 6.1.

The Video has not quite managed to get the boot sequence as fast as HTC did on the Desire Z, but its not far off and perhaps there will be some tweaking before it goes live. The ability to boot very quickly that we see with the Desire Z and here with the device save everything in RAM as the device enters what is more akin to a sleep mode. Thus it can boot up seemingly quickly with all its data ready to go.

Toshiba windows phone 7

Toshiba may be the latest manufacturer to have thrown its hat into the Windows Phone 7 ring after a filing with the GCF (aka Global Certification Forum) mentioned a certain Toshiba TG03. Now there had been a TG03 from Toshiba earlier in the year, which was taken to be a Windows Mobile handset, but it never actually appeared. The thinking therefore is that it was scrapped in favour of going with the Win Phone 7 rather than the older Windows Mobile and thus this new appearance of the TG03 is in fact the Windows Phone 7 version.

Of course one has to remember that Toshiba is not a named launch partner for Windows Phone 7 so this could all just be pie in the sky. Having said that Toshiba could still release a Win Phone 7 handset soon after the platform becomes official as Acer is planning to do. In fact being slightly behind the curve here might actually be a good move as it would give them time to fine tune their handset once the initial reaction to Win Phone 7 has been assessed.

gsmarena 001 RIM says their QNX tablet UI will replace BlackBerry OS in the future

Do you remember the RIM Playbook? and its New UI that RIN announced just two days ago. Well it turns out that the company has some big plans for it and for the Blackberry OS Future too.

According to one of the Canadian company vice presidents, the new UI, which is called QNX, will eventually outplace BlackBerry OS as their smartphone platform. With "great stability, low power consumption and rich multimedia capabilities" it might just be the thing that RIM need to compete at the high-end smartphone market.

The bad news is it will take a considerable amount of time, but it always better to know that there is something to look forward to. And knowing what the current BlackBerry OS looks like (yup, even V6), it certainly a lot to look forward to.

Individual iPad apps are not normally something we cover in any great detail, except for when they are amazing, or looks amazing This particular app definitely falls into the second category and possibly the third depending on how into social media you are. Called "iStreamer" the idea is pretty simple, it shows updates on a timeline. It presents it in a very attractive shell though with the updates  scrolling across your screen.

It can display tweets and RSS feeds amongst various other updates and you can add keywords to the timeline so that when someone tweets about 'hot Swedish bikini babes it will display updates relevant to that search term. Take a look at the CrunchGear video below to see it in action. It will be $4 when released but there are plans to make it hopefully for free.

google nexus one

Customized ROMs for Android are ten a penny these days so you could be forgiven for becoming a tad blase when a new one appears. However, the MIUI ROM is a little different, not least of all for the fact that it looks pretty damn awesome. Its based upon Froyo and at first glance looks like some sort of mashup between Android and iOS.

The ROM  looks to have been built from the ground up and the customisation is very far reaching with everything from the lock screen to the app drawer having been modified, indeed there is no app drawer! It was developed by Chinese devs and is mostly in Chinese at the moment so despite it being availble for the Nexus One, Desire and EVO 4G you might not get much use form it if you do not speak Chinese. For those who do not you can check out the video below whilst you brush up on your Mandarin, if the ROM does not get you excited the rather too excitable soundtrack probably will.

The mobile phone Company Sony Ericsson , is the latest vendor to abandon the Symbian operating system beside Nokia and Samsung.

"We have no plans for the time being to develop any new products to the Symbian Foundation standard or operating system," Aldo Liguori, a spokesman for the London-based company.

Symbian is clinging to its perch as the worlds biggest- selling smartphone operating system mainly because of Nokia Ovi, which uses it as its main software on high-end phones. Its market share declined to 41.2 percent in the second quarter from 51 percent a year earlier, according to Gartner figures. Sony Ericsson uses Symbian on its Vivaz line and also employs Google Android and proprietary systems.

Playbook

The tablet market got a little more crowded, and a lot more exciting, today as RIM unveiled its tablet device after months of speculation. The device will be called the PlayBook, defying all previous attempts at guessing its name and its packing a fair old punch beneath the hood. Specs include a dual-core 1 GHz chip and RIM seem to be keen to position it not just to professionals, but also to gamers.

its obviously dig at Apple seemingly more frivolous iPad So iPad Users get Ready to switch to your tablets!... At the same time RIM are saying "This is going to be an incredible gaming platfom for publishers and the players." If it can fulfill both criteria then this could be a real winner.

playbook

One possible drawback for some is the lack of 3G connectivity, but RIM are promising a 3G version (and even a 4G version) in the future.

Playbook Official Specs:

gsmarena 001 BlackBerry Playbook announced the dual core tablet to rule them all

Looks Like blackberry fans will be blown away...RIM has just confirmed that the Release of the Playbook or the Blackberry tablet is on Next Year Q2, 2011 probably on Next Summer!

RIM Playbook is Coming with a SVGA (1024 x 600 pixels) multi-touch capacitive touchscreen, the PlayBook is the first tablet to sport a dual-core 1GHz CPU. And it makes quite good use of it too – both the front-facing and the primary camera of the device are capable of recording full HD 1080p video and on board the PlayBook has what RIM calls true multitasking. And with 1GB of RAM you are unlikely to have out of memory issues either.

But it does not end there there is also Flash 10.1 and HTML5 support, microHDMI and microUSB ports and Wi-Fi a/b/g/n support. The primary camera can also take 5 megapixel stills, while the secondary one does 3MP. Secure Bluetooth connection is here too with 3G the only notable absentee. RIM are however promising 3G and even 4G versions of the tablet too.

All these Powerful Features is packed in only 10mm thin and weighing 400 grams Device...iPad users its Time for switching to the Playbook. Video Below!

Sony Ericsson shows a New LiveView tool a Micro Display for Android looks like the Apple New 6th Generation iPod nano and probably in the same size.

LiveView

The Sony Ericsson measures 35x35x11 mm, weighs 15 grams and comes with a clip or better yet, a wrist strap so you can wear it as a watch. But it's much better than those first Sony Ericsson Bluetooth watches.

LiveView

The screen on the LiveView is an OLED unit its a 1.3 inches big touchscreen with 128x128 pixels resolution. The battery should last 4 days of normal usage with screen in hibernation mode.

LiveView

The LiveView is compatible with Android 2.0+ devices (and not just Sony Ericsson either) and here's what it can do control the music player, read SMS, Facebook and Twitter messages, RSS feeds, calendar reminders and display time and date.

In case you need a refresh, HTC Mondrian is rumored to pack a 4.3-inch capacitive WVGA touchscreen display, a 1.3 GHz Snapdragon processor, a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording and support for both GSM and CDMA 3G (HSDPA and EV-DO).

The phone announcement will be Officially on 11 October.

Both ads are both odd and funny, but I guess this is Microsofts new way of enticing potential customers. just watch the two videos below!

The good news first  HTC CEO Peter Chou confirmed there will be Sense UI into the company upcoming Windows Phone 7 devices, it just will not be the way we are used to. Here is his full statement:

"I do not think we would do complete Sense UI on Windows Phone 7. However, I will say that we will innovate differently to improve the experience and to get some HTC unique and differentiated experience on Windows Phone 7 in the future."

Well, it seems HTC will be doing some Windows Phone 7 customization after all and the previously leaked videos may turn authentic. I guess we will soon find out.

Transformers

Here is a video that does not need much introduction. Its impressive as a videographer first attempt in DSLR video creation. The characters and the 3D animation are cool, as well. The video was shot mainly with a Canon 550D but they have included a Nikon D5000 as a sidekick as well. The second camera was used so that the author can shoot a scene from two angles simultaneously. The whole shooting was done in 2 hours, post took a good month.

HTC Sense

We all have seen the HTC Sense UI on Windows phone 7 and the cool weather Anmation and Other 3D Animation that really looked pretty solid. but HTC CEO Peter Chou said that we might not be seeing any of that Coo HTC Sense Animation UI on HTC WP7 handsets right off the bat at launch, but in further ROMs updates.

He says:

"Initially, we don't have time to bring things on top of that," he said. "But over time we will innovate on top of that to provide some HTC experience."

HTC Desire

We All have seen the Desire HD in the Demo and the Full Video TV Commercial too and this Cool UI of the New HTC Sense 3... Many of HTC users that have android phones really which to have the same UI as the New HTC Desire HD especially users who have the HTC Desire Original and they do not want to sell their phones or buy a New Desire. Well we have Some Great NEWS!

The XDA developers has managed to get the ROM of the HTC Desire HD and Modify it to work on the Original HTC Desire Original. As one could expect from a ROM ported so quickly there are many missing features at this point but there does not seem to be too many stability issues. Still not having an operational camera on any of those devices is probably too high a price to pay for a quick boot so waiting a bit longer might be the wisest thing to do at this stage.

Video Below!

Well it was only yesterday that we were posting up that leaked image of the HD3/7 and commenting on how even though there was a nice picture of it there was no specs list. Fear not gentle reader for the specs list has now also leaked out! Most of the specs you could probably have geussed to be fair, but it's still nice to see them in black and white.

The noticeable thing here is that the HD7 is similar to the HD2, both running with 1 GHz processors, 4.3-inch touchscreens and 576 MB of RAM. Both handsets also sport 5 MP cameras. So far the expected launch date is sometime in October, presumably after the 11th when Windows Phone 7 itself officially launches.

Nokia 2010 plans

Rumours are out for the course when you cover the tech industry and every once in a while you come across a real humdinger that you just have to report on. This is just such a rumour. Basically the story goes that Nokia new CEO, Stephen Elop, has been given permisison by Nokia board to explore every option in his attempt to roll back the years of decline. Part of exploring all options is apparently considering using Windows Phone 7. All of this comes from VentureBeat by the way, who are citing an undisclosed source.

Nokia windows phone 7 imagination

Its certainly conceivable that Elop could be exploring a range of options, indeed that would be a highly sensible move, but could this really mean Nokia finally shifting its software strategy? At the time of writing this is highly doubtful, not least of all because of the massive amount of resources Nokia have invested in Symbian and MeeGo. Hell it was just the other day that the outgoing CEO was saying that using Android would be akin to Nokia peeing itself to keep warm!

Some might argue that Elops background at Microsoft makes using Windows Phone 7 a no brainer, but it just does not stack up. Take Nokia Ovi Maps, for example, which they have recently been using to bash Google. Would they really give that up to use the default mapping services installed on Windows Phone 7 handsets? What about the Ovi Store? It looks like too much for Nokia to give up.

LG E900

Here another appearance of the LG E900. This time there are proper photos and even a 20-minute-long video. The Czech guys behind it call the device Optimus 7 but we have heard LG call another phone like that so we are taking the petname with a pinch of salt.

LG E900

LG E900 or aka Optimus 7 will pack a 1GHz or 1.3GHz Qualcomm processor, a 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen with 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and HD video recording, full connectivity package and of course, it will run Windows Phone 7 the Latest Mobile OS from Microsoft.

Prefox browser on webOS

PreFox is an early proof-of-concept web browser for webOS based on the the same source code as Mozilla Firefox for Mobile.

The default webOS browser is fast and simple to use but Mozilla Firefox for Mobile features many benefits:

  • Better support for web standards allowing rich sites like Flickr to function correctly
  • Multiple tabs and session restore
  • Remembering cookies and passwords for sites
  • Built in synchronisation of bookmarks and history with desktop Firefox
  • The awesomebar
  • Support for many add-ons

The challenge was to see if the current Palm Pre hardware and its platform webOS was capable of running such a full featured web browser. The answer is, probably yes, but there is still work to do.

Startup is too slow. It is probably not possible to equal the startup speed of webOS built in browser but it still needs to be faster to be useful.Currently PreFox runs and can be used to browse the web but the following key things keep it from being truly usable:

  • Memory use is currently too high often giving the “Too many cards” errors.
  • Sometimes while running PreFox will become slow for periods of time, clearly it is doing something in the background that needs to be identified.
  • Various UI and functionality tweaks specific for webOS.

In the case of the first three a lot of the work that the Mozilla team are doing to improve things on the Android platform will translate directly to PreFox.

PreFox requires webOS 1.4.5 and so far has only been tested on a Sprint Palm Pre. It probably works a little better on a Palm Pre Plus but I have no idea whether it would even start on a Palm Pixi.

Since Mozilla Labs launched the Concept Series with an open call for participation we haveve had thousands of people join in, share ideas and develop concepts around Firefox, the Mozilla projects and the Open Web as a whole.

In response to our open call Billy May, in early 2009, produced a throw-away concept for an "Open Web Concept Phone". Working directly off of that community feedback, Billy has since finished the exploration with his concept "Seabird".

Concept Series: Seabird

Overview

The Mozilla Seabird, part of the Mozilla Labs Concept Series, is an experiment in how users might interact with their mobile content as devices and technology advances. Drawing on insights culled from the Mozilla community through the project blog, a focus quickly developed around frustrating physical interactions. While mobile CPUs, connectivity and development platforms begin approaching that of desktops, the lagging ability to efficiently input information has grown ever more pronounced.

Seabird Concept 1

Interaction

The Seabird, then, introduces a few possibilities into how user interaction might evolve with the advancing motion capture and projector driven innovation in the market. First out, the Seabird imagines how a multiple use dongle might augment the crowded gestural interface with greater precision and direct manipulation of content in 3D space.

Seabird Concept 2

Pico Projector

With mobile phone companies such as Samsung, LG and Motorola moving towards display applications for projectors, the technology remains open for expanding user interaction and input at the same time. The Seabird, on just a flat surface, enables netbook-quality interaction by working with the projector angular distortion to deliver interface, rather than content. With the benefit of a dock, each projector works independently and delivers laptop levels of efficiency.

Seabird Concept 3

Design

The form development took its cues from various aerodynamic, avian and decidedly feminine forms. Its erect posture intends a sense of poise while its supine conformity to the hand reconciles that with the user desire for digital control. The curvature of the back also serves a functional role in elevating the projector lens elements when lying flat.

Seabird Concept 4

Seabird is a community-driven exploration and does not mean that Mozilla has plans to produce an OS or hardware at the moment. Find out more about Mozilla Firefox for Mobile here.

Samsung SGH-i916

Unless our eyes deceive us most cruelly, the Samsung phone we see above looks identical to the i917 Windows Phone 7 handset. The common feature that i917 has is an AMOLED screen, judging by the deeper than deep black color its capable of pushing out. See a much larger picture of the i916 after the break, and if you want an even better idea of how a 4-inch Samsung handset compares to the iPhone 4, visit our screen comparison test starring the Galaxy S.

T-mobile G2

A leaked internal T-Mobile notification has made it clear that rumors of G2 delays were unfounded, and the late-September order date rumors accurate. droid-2-global2-600x450

Simply releasing a Motorola Droid 2 with internals capable of global roaming probably would not have done much to differentiate the world device from the D2 currently on Verizons shelves, so good thing Big Red decided to give the phone a cosmetic makeover. This is our first look at what will be the Droid 2 World Edition with its white casing and silver screen bezel as opposed to the blue and gunmetal of the first Droid 2. Rumor has it this one might replace the first iteration of the Droid 2 outright in VZW lineup.

Other than the new colors and roaming capabilities, looks like we will be getting the same exact phone. We more or less expected that, though some were holding out hope for some tweaks in the hardware here and there.

Samsung just published an official demo video that showing their Android tablet performance and cool features in a very attractive Adv.

According to Samsung the purpose of the video is to objectively present the key features of the Galaxy Tab so there is NO Graphic Effects have been applied to the Video. So that this video should give you an excellent idea of what the Galaxy Tab real-life performance will be like!

The Nokia 5230 is one of the cheapest ways to get a full-blown SatNav system. Its got a GPS, free voice-guided navigation with offline maps and you can buy it for about 120 Euro (160 USD).

However that 434MHz CPU is not Enough... sure takes its time to launch Ovi Maps. But if you overclock it to 800MHz that will make it 2x faster and someone already made it happen.

An HX custom ROMs have figured out how change the clock speed of the Nokia 5230 they can down clock it to 250MHz or overclock it all the way to 800MHz (Faster than N8 with 680Mhz).

HTC

HTC have gone and released an official HD promo for the UPcoming Desire HD and its a pretty decent look at the device given that the video is amost 8 minutes long. The promo is called HTC Desire HD A Closer Look and thats exactly what youget. The narration and tone of the video almost puts you in mind of an Apple video, but with less schmaltz and far less use of the word "magical". Its worth a look, especially if you are thinking of buying this device.

Marvel

Marvell (The Hardware corporation not the Comics book publisher) have taken the wrapper off their new baby, the Armada 628 application processor. It is a beast of a processor with 3 cores, two of which will be running at a nippy 1.5 GHz. It crams in enough power to render 200 million triangles per second and can support simultaneous dual 1080p video streams.

Battery life is another area where the chip can boast some impressive specs and claims to be \"ultra\" low in its power consumption. 1080p video should last for 10 hours and you would be looking at somewhere in the vicinity of 140 hours of music playback. It also packs in support for USB 3.0. There is no word on when exactly it will be released, but hopefully soon as smartphones could do with a boost, especially in the power consumption department!

BB

You could be forgiven for thinking that the Blackberry Bold 9780 was in fact already commercially available given the number of leaks that have sprung up about this handset. Well get ready for no surpise at all when you learn that it has ... leaked again! This time a bevy of new pictures from Vietnam have popped up. They show the device as previously seen, running Blackberry OS 6.0, but sadly there is no new information in the pics, just some eye candy for those patiently awaiting its arrival.

X10 Family

Bad NEWS for X10 users as Sony Ericsson has Officially announced that the Eclair update for the X10 is delayed! Initially the release of the update was scheduled for sometime in Q3, but it was not to be as they have now released a revised timetable saying that updates will begin from the end of October with no particular date.

There is so much wrong with this siuation that its difficult to know where to begin. First of all we have the delayed update of course, but then we remember that the update is only Eclair 2.1, which is a full iteration behind the current version, Froyo. Even Froyo will soon be obsolete when Gingerbread hits sometime later this year.

Here is what you will get from the 2.1 update on XPERIA X10:

  • Upgrade of the Android platform to Android 2.1.
  • HD video recording with continuous auto-focus.
  • New back up and restore application, with extended content back up.
  • 5 homescreens for apps, widgets, shortcuts and folders.
  • Social phonebook, which automatically syncs contact pictures with Facebook and shows when your friends are online.

And here are the new goodies expected on the XPERIA X10 mini and X10 mini pro:

  • Upgrade of the Android platform to Android platform 2.1.
  • Improved Bluetooth functionality with support for sending and receiving pictures, contacts and more.
  • New backup and restore application with extended content back up.
  • Automatic synchronization of your contact pictures between Facebook and your phonebook.
  • Improved ways of handling pictures, audio, text and numbers in your messages.

Surf book

Do you remember the speculation surrounding the rumoured tablet device from RIM, specifically the name of the device, which increasingly looked to be the "BlackPad" ? Well it seems that this might not be the name after all if a trademark filing RIM has made is anything to go by. The trademark is for the name "SurfBook", which thankfully sounds Old than "BlackPad" does. Interestingly enough though there is some chatter that the new tardemark may be due to a RIM tablet not actually running the BlackBerry OS after all.

RIM purchased software company QNX back in April and there is some speculation that it may very well be software from QNX that makes it onto their tablet device. It would certainly explain the name change.

Apple Face Recognition

Apple has made what could turn out to be an interesting little purchase, namely a company specializing in face recognition software. The company, Polar Rose, developed something called "FaceCloud", which could automatically identify and name everyone in a picture or an album. Using this and other Polar Rose software, Apple could conceivably introduce some very swish new features to its iPhone range as well as its computers and other devices that use cameras or webcams.

One example, and perhaps the most obvious, would be to tag a picture when it is taken so that the people in it are immediately identified. Another might be something a bit flashier such as unlocking your device just by looking at it. At any rate its pretty much a given that we will see some sort of enhanced facial recognition service coming to Apple devices and most likely the iPhone.

Mozart

Here we have the HTC Mozart in all its glory on video and once again we see the lightning fast response times of Windows Phone 7. Thats one aspect of this new platform that really looks to be spot on, there is geneuinly no lag present here. Fair enough we only see a very brief glimpse of the handset here and of course things may slow with use.

Nokia CEO

One of todays biggest talking points has been comments concerning Android  made by outgoing Nokia CEO Anssi Vanjoki. The actual comment he made was that "if Nokia were to use Android it would be like pissing your pants to stay warm". In other words what he was saying is that despite the short term relief peeing your pants provides in the long run its not the best idea.

Ok fair enough we understand the point behind his comments and its reasonable point to make, if it were true. The problem of course is that Nokia are betting their money on Symbian and MeeGo. MeeGo is more liked by users, but its very much a small player at the moment in a market where size really does count, especially when it comes to apps and dev support. More than that though MeeGo does not have the same sort of mindshare that Android or iOS or hell even Blackberry OS has it.

An O2 Germany leaked document we stumbled upon today lists the HTC HD7 it will cost 79 Euro with a 2 yearor 599 euro (About $790) without a plan. The release date is set for Week 42 of this year more specific rumors state October,18 as the most likely release date in Germany and All over Europe in the same range of time.

Nokia survival kit 2010

Nokia Turn London Square into a World War Battle for 2010 Nokia vs. HTC. As Nokia Was Holding its Annual Conference Nokia World 2010, HTC Also Announced a press Conference to announce the HTCsense.com, HTC Desire HD and Desire Z too, Nokia has made a "survival kit" for Press members who is leaving Nokia wold to Attend the TC Event and cover it. Read the Paper Above to see its text

There were some girls with balloons promoting OVI Maps walking around the entrance to the HTC conference and along the waterfront. Certainly, they got lost. But it was neat. And nearly everyone wanted to make pictures with them. I couldn't miss the opportunity either.

Was it a clever move by Nokia?. Nokia expected HTC to react immediately, in a careless and haphazard way. But they did not. They did their job and were excellent at that. They did not counteract, did not notice the insults. HTc Also Announced as a Response: "if we had known that Nokia wanted to visit our event so much, we would have invited them over, we are not afraid of competitors but support competition."

Top Smartphone Platforms Q3 2010

Blackberry OS 1st Place (- decreasing), iOS 2nd place (- decreasing), Android OS 3rd Place (+ Increase),Windows Phone OS 4th Place (- decreasing), WebOS 5th Place (- decreasing).

Android has overtaken Windows Mobile to become the third largest smartphone OS, by marketshare, in the U.S. The figures from ComScore show that in the period between April and July this year Android surged ahead to claim an extra 5% of the U.S. smartphone market, whilst Microsoft Windows Mobile dropped 2.2%. Of course this is the now outdated OS that Microsoft will soon replace with Win Phone 7 and Microsoft themselves have admitted to having missed a cycle with Windows Mobile.

The interesting thing about these figures, beyond Android growth, is what is happening to the other operating systems. The ComScore figures show that not one of the other operating systems that they track showed any sign of growth in the time period covered, indeed most actually shrank in market share. RIM Blackberry OS lost 1.8% and Apple did not fare much better with a 1.3% drop. It is worth pointing out though that the iPhone 4 will not have affected these results so Apple score may very well have jumped up in the period afterwards.

Samsung galaxy tab

The Samsung Galaxy Tab, as the first Android powered tablet on the market, has obviouly garnered a bit of interest. Sadly this is mostly due to reports of ridiculously high pricing, some 800 Pound on Amazon UK, for example. Well none of that has stopped Samsung from putting out a promo for its new device. It contains all the usual corporate staples of hipster types using the device whilst reclining in chairs drinking coffee or of people smiling whenever they so much as see the device. All that aside the promo focuses very much on portability. the device is shown being used out and about for the most part with one hipster even going so far as to shove it in his back pocket. Lets just hope he does not forget and sit down!

ipad

An iPad supporting Facetime is not so much an object of speculation in and of itself as it is a guaranteed certainty. The only aspect of the matter being speculated upon is when Will DigiTimes are citing some of the manufacturers producing components for Apple as giving hints that we can expect a new iPad with Facetime, sometime early next year. In fact that can be narrowed down a little further to sometime during Q2 of next year. That would put an iPad2 launch sometime in the Spring.

The other interesting tidbit to come out of these companies is that the display components they are working on for the next gen iPad are for a screen measuring 9.7 inches. That does not preclude the rumored smaller iPad that some have been talking about, but it doesn't do anything to prop up such rumours either.

Now you can Upgrade the CPU in your Motorola Milestone XT720 to run at 720MHz with a the New firmware update.

Motorola lists the CPU speed for the XT720 as up to 720MHz and it turns out that the Cortex A8 processor inside the Motorola Milestone XT720 has been ticking at the modest 550MHz up until today.

The new software update, which is available for the UK and Germany, overclocks it to those promised 720MHz (the maximum frequency of its chip is 800MHz). The update also adds DLNA support for good measure.

FB Phone

You probably Road our Previous Article About the Facebook Phone...Well it turns out this Not Really True. A Facebook spokesman denied the company is working on a phone. The people mentioned above seem to be involved in projects about deeper Facebook integration into existing mobile operating systems. Here is the full statement:

"The story, which originated in Techcrunch, is not accurate. Facebook is not building a phone. Our approach has always been to make phones and apps more social. Current projects include include everything from an HTML5 version of the site to apps on major platforms to full Connect support with SDKs to deeper integrations with some manufacturers. Our view is that almost all experiences would be better if they were social, so integrating deeply into existing platforms and operating systems is a good way to enable this. For an example, check out Connect for iPhone and the integration we have with contact syncing through our iPhone app. Another example is the INQ1 phone with Facebook integration (the first so-called ‘Facebook Phone'). The people mentioned in the story are working on these projects. The bottom line is that whenever we work on a deep integration, people want to call it a ‘Facebook Phone' because that's such an attractive soundbite, but building phones is just not what we do."

3M Shoot-N-Share is a nice pocket gadget capable of capturing 720p videos. But its most important feature is the integrated pico projector for showing your works directly on the wall with the 3MP camera and HD 720p video recording (1280x720@20Fps)... its Great to have this device with you

3M

3M Shoot-N-Share projects only in VGA resolution, but I guess its the best we can get from a pocket technology. It also has microSD card slot and HDMI port to watch your videos in full resolution on a proper big screen.

3M Shoot-N-Share will launch on October for about $300

ios4.1 jailbreak

The iPhone hacker who previously found the 24kpwn exploit has successfully managed to find another bootrom based exploit which can jailbreak all iOS based devices on the latest iOS 4.1 firmware. What this means is that the next jailbreak most probably is going to be based on bootrom exploit which unlike JailbreakMe will enable users to change boot and recovery mode logos among many other things.

Also, the best thing about a low-level bootrom exploit is that Apple wont be able to patch it simply by releasing a new firmware update. Instead, it will require Apple to release a revised hardware version of iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad and the iPod touches with new bootroms in order to patch the bootrom exploit. This is the reason why iOS devices which shipped after November 2009 are currently not jailbreakable via PwnageTool because it uses the 24kpwn bootrom exploit, already patched by Apple.

So Stay tuned as we will keep you updated as soon as we get more info about this!

HTC

According to T-mobile wireless operator, the new firmware update for HTC Desire Original that has foryo 2.2 onboard is already being deployed for its users, and should be sent over the air to all of them during the following weeks. So if you have an HTC Desire check for update OTA Over the Air.

T-Mobile support forum Statement:

"We have some exciting news for all our Desire users.

The 2.2 firmware update (FroYo) will be available from today and will be sent over the air (OTA) direct to your phone over the coming weeks.

Be sure to save all your personal data before you start downloading. That's because the upgrade will delete all personal info including software applications from the device."

A few days ago, the company announced via Twitter that the new software solution is set to arrive on HTC Desire units on its airwaves later during this month, and it seems that things were put in motion faster than originally expected.

One of the nicest new features of the solution is the included support for Adobe's Flash Player 10.1 technology, which offers users the possibility to access more websites out there, as well as enjoy new content available online.

HTC

The enthusiasts over at XDA-Developers forums got their hands on the HTC Desire HD ROM (Android 2.2 Froyo with the latest version of HTC Sense UI) and they have already got a port running on the HTC HD2.

HTC

The HD2 can already run various Froyo ports (even Ubuntu Linux) but the Desire HD ROM will enable the latest changes HTC made to their custom Android UI. Its far from ready for mass consumption, but its only been days since the Desire HD went official.

HTC Desire HD

HTC Desire HD

The first benchmarks of the HTC Desire HD are in and it crushes the Nexus One in CPU and graphics performance. The HTC Desire HD is powered by a Qualcomm QSD8255 processor and Adreno 205 GPU and it offers a much improved performance, compared to a Froyo-running Nexus One.

On the Quadrant benchmark, the HTC Desire HD dethrones the Nexus One showing about 30% more whoomph and it offers double the framerate in the Neocore benchmark than the Nexus One/HTC Desire phones do, and it matches the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S and its PowerVR SGX540 GPU.

facebook phone logo

Facebook is building something secretly from its employees and only the high-level management is familiar with the project. The secret project is about software development for mobile or May be a Whole Mobile OS that Also may be depended on a Web OS or like it as Facebook platform is a Web hPHP Based. The secret project is most probably a new mobile OS based completely on Facebook.

So if facebook is going to make a Mobile OS it needs a Mobile phone to do this. Of course Facebook will make a deal with a Big Mobile phones Manufacture to Make the Hardware of the phone and it might be Cheap so that it will target a Huge range of users. This phone should integrate all Facebook stuff the same way Google does with its accounts. May be even better. All this info is Not Confirmed yet but Facebook Fans and Farmville Fans will be Pleases.

Android Euro

it looks like France Telecom, Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom are getting together in Paris on a Conference next month to see if they cant come up with their very own smartphone OS. Seriously.

At the risk of editorializing mobile network operators do not exactly have a great track record when it comes to creating and pushing their own operating systems, one need look no further than Vodafone's 360 efforts to see the truth in that. Why they would want to pump more resources into the same strategy is a bit baffling. Then of course there is the very pertinent question of whether the market needs, We already have Android, iOS, Symbian, Blackberry OS, MeeGo, Bada, Windows Mobile and the forthcoming Windows Phone 7. Thats a lot of Confusing for users.

Of course this probably has more to do with the networks wanting to regain some control rather than increasing consumer choice. For years the networks were able to dominate handsets with their own branded content and services, but iOS, Blackberry and Android have been eating into that control.

ATT

An ATT paper leaked From a Retailer shows some dates. Given dates proximity points to the presumed Windows Phone 7 launch, it may be correct that at least one of these is likely the Samsung Cetus o the HTC HD3 or another Microsoft-powered handset from a Windows phone 7 Manufacture s Asus or LG to kick off ATT Stores in a month from Now. So we hope that widows phone 7 is that SOON!

Microsoft

Microsoft has gone on the record as saying that they are not planning on their own handset any time soon. The comments came from CFO of mobile communication during a conference call: "We are in the software business nd that is where our business will be focused". The move is not all that surprising really given Microsoft failure with their much publicized Kin  (Kin one, Kin Two projects has been canceled) devices. That little venture pretty much crashed and burned before it had even gotten off the ground and reportedly cost Redmond a not very cool $240 million.

windows phone

Contrast this with other companies in the smartphone space who are increasingly taking on both hardware and software roles. Most famously of course there is Apple, but even HTC is paying more attention to their UI and related services these days. Microsoft then is going in the opposite direction and it is in the fact the exact same direction they took with regards to the desktop computer market back in the 80s and 90s.

App Store

Google Voice applications have had a pretty tumultuous history in the App Store. At first, Apple approved them and People were happy with it but then Apple pulled them out saying: "duplicating features that the iPhone comes with (Dialer, SMS, etc)."

And Today Apple put the Application back again! and after a while the application link went down and says "Application Not Found" but Finally, The Application is available on the Apple App store and its up and running again do get to the app store and Download it before its gone again!

N8

Nokia has really gone too far this time as Nokia PUSHN8 has made very interesting thing with the Nokia N8. using a LCD Screen and the Nokia N8 Camera you can turn this LCD screen into a touch screen using Nokia Plug and Touch New Feature on the N8.

Nokia Plug and touch is very simple but Smart system the Nokia N8 will be connected to the HD LCD with an HDMI cable and will be putted on a stand and its camera will be on the face of the HD LCD and its On on Video mode. When you move your finger on the HD LCD and click on a photo the N8 camera detect your finger and see what pixels you are pointing to and perform the action on the phone screen which is connected to HD LCD with the HDMI cable and you are Done! you have a Big HD LCD Touch Screen.

X10

The SE Xperia X10 Family (X10, X8, X10 mini, X10 mini pro) Android Roadmap Updates has been leaked. The roadmap highlights three major firmware releases: Android 1.6x, Android 2.1 and Android 2.1x. It shows that the Android 2.1 update for the Xperia X10 will get 720p video recording with continuous autofocus. HTML5 will also be adopted along with 5 homescreens and a social phonebook. The document also points to a revised menu.

X10

For the X10 mini, X10 mini pro and X8 the 2.1 update will bring with it a slight change in the four-corner navigation along with Bluetooth 2.1. These mobiles will also get the social phonebook and HTML5 adoption. Following this, there will then be the Android 2.1x update that will bring Sony Ericsson revamped UX platform to Timescape and Mediascape along with more languages. Unfortunately, the roadmap for all handsets stops on Android 2.1 and No Info about the Froyo 2.2 updates for the X10 Family.

HTC Desire HD

As we All know, HTC products are the ones we All wait for the most, and thats due a sound combination of several elements: design, materials and user interface. We All Love HTC Sense its the UI that Made people love the Windows Phones without it Windows Mobile 6 would not be that popular Nowadays. Today we shows you the Full photo coverage of the HTC Desire HD Latest Android Froyo phone from HTC from All sides front and Rear with the Aluminum Steel and the Scratch resistance glass to the Plastic Rubber on the back and the HQ Metal Power Button. the Only things that we blame HTC on is the Expensive Price and the Poor Battery life...Rather than its Devices Worth it!

The Original Desire

Just yesterday many an HTC Desire owner would have been reading about HTC new SENSE UI improvements with excitement, but today its looking a little shaky as to whether the original Desire will receive the enhancements. The new UI links up with HTCSense.com to offer users cloud based backups of relevant data as well as locating lost/stolen handsets and, if need be, locking or wiping them remotely. There is also improved maps and DLNA support as well as Facebook photo enhancements. All very well and good, but Jon French, executive director at HTC, commented "the new UI enhancements depends on a technical standard, where it has to support the new services offered by HTCSense.com. We're launching that on the Desire HD and Desire Z, and it could be that we roll it out to other devices later on."

HTCsense.com

The device would need to be running Froyo (Android 2.2) to actually use the new enhancements, but the Desire has already received an upgrade to Android 2.2 so in theory at least there should be no problem that prevent the Desire to get the HTCSense.com Enhancements and thats what  the users Hope!

A new set of projections from research firm Gartner has reinforced the prediction that Android is heading to the top of the smartphone market, largely at the expense of Blackberry and Symbian. The research suggests that Android will overtake Blackberry by the end of this year, however, that lead will grow and by 2011 Android NO.2 will have a commanding lead over RIM. Symbian is predicted to remain in the NO.1 spot through to 2014, but the projections say that Android will be a whisker behind them. iOS market share drops a few points in the projections, but it manages to retain the number three spot ahead of Blackberry, which falls to fourth position in the smartphone stakes. Perhaps the most interesting prediction concerns Windows Phones 7, which Gartner are projecting to essentially be a non-event, steadily declining into obscurity.

seesmic

Seesmic have been showing off their app for Windows Phone 7 and it is looking pretty damned nice we must say. If this is the sort of standard we can expect from apps on Winows Phone 7, at least as far as aesthetics are concerned, then it looks like the iPhone might have a real run for its money with those who want beautiful things. Android, whilst having the second largest app store, has often come in for criticism over its apps not having that polished feel to them, but that does not look like its going to be a problem here.

star trek

Anyone who saw the most recent Star Trek film will probably remember seeing some Nokia product placement during the film. Well as it happens Nokia have actually bene building some Star Trek communicator prototypes. It mimics the sound effects and actions of the communicator seen on the original series and admittedly it looks pretty damned good. Supposedly there are fourteen of these things floating around so they armer pretty rare. Check out the video below.

HTC Sense 3 for WP7

Microsoft will not allow UI mods on Windows Phone 7. That has not stopped HTC from bringing their trademarked Sense UI feel to WP7 though instead of replacing the homescreen outright, they added apps that replicate a lot of current Sense UI features which makes the phone much faster and more integrated with the Actual WP7 UI.

The first video Below shows everything happens with smooth 3D animations. Everything. The notes application is wonderfully ornate and the weather app adds fly through clouds animation to the already elaborate setup.

The Second video Below Shows this HTC Sense 3D UI but on an Actual HTC Device or the HTC WP7 Proto-type. and one of the coolest app that come with the HTC sense the "Loves me, loves me not" game and that app with the flashlight icon.

HTC Desire Family

Until now HTC has got 3 Smartphones on its Desire Family HTC Desire Original, HTC Desire Z and HTC Desire HD. All three devices was very successfully and All the Family are Android-Powered smartphones and it was very successfully and got top Sales on Android Markets in comparison by Motorola Milestones or Samsung Waves. look on the Innovation that HTC always promises us with Every year.

All this period of Android devices and HTC still keeps the Georgous design with Adding the Latest Mobile Technology to it. You will be a little bit surprised to hear that Nokia still selling More Mobile phones per day. well last time it was 210,000 device per day but in Nokia World 2010 Nokia Announced that it Sell about
260,000 Nokia Smartphone Daily (per one day). To put that into perspective. Last Number that Apple announced that it ships somewhere around 80,000 iPhones per day, and Android activate 200,000 Android devices per day. So do you think Nokia is telling the truth !?

As you can see up there Nokia said that on its presentation on Nokia world 2010 and she is very proud of this Number and Cutomers Trust on its products.

C7

The Nokia C7 has a 3.5-inch AMOLED screen with nHD resolution and 8GB of built-in memory. But unlike the E7, the C7 memory is expandable through the microSD card slot. The Nokia C7 may not be able to out do the E7 (the one with the QWERTY) but it is destined to sit on top of the Nokia most popular (in terms of sales at least) series. Symbian^3 and the larger screen alone should be enough to make C7 undisputed leader there but the top of the Cseries is already well above the entry-level territory so it will face tough competition from outside.
