Motorola developer site served up some juicy specifications of this highly anticipated smartphone. Before we go ahead though, even though the image below shows the model number as XT865, which is of the older DROID Bionic that was announced before and later on cancelled, the specifications below are of the new phone, i.e., the XT875, which is what Motorola will be launching later.

The image above is incomplete and you will have to click here for the rest of the specifications. The page whence the image was capture has since been stripped off all the details about the DROID Bionic.

But to sum up the specifications, the new DROID Bionic will have a 4.3-inch, qHD display, TI OMAP4430 SoC with dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 CPU and PowerVR SGX540 GPU, 8 megapixel rear camera capable of recording 1080p video and VGA front camera, HDMI 1.4, Android 2.3.4, Webtop capabilities and 4G LTE support.

A new Android based Motorola smartphone has been spotted in China. Named the Domino+ (or the XT531 if you will), the device is intended to be released only in the Chinese market and will be aimed at the budget smartphone buyer.

The Domino+ will have a 3.5-inch HVGA display, 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor with 512MB of RAM and ROM, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash along with Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS. The Domino+ will be running on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.

Decked in glossy white plastic, the Domino+ looks very pretty indeed and refreshingly different from Motorola usual all-black designs.

Motorola

I mentioned two days ago that the DROID Bionic might be coming this September, and Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha confirmed it yesterday during Motorola Q2 earnings call. The DROID Bionic will be coming to Verizon some time this September, so those who have been waiting for it since CES will not have to sit around watching other cool Android handsets pass by much longer.

"Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha said that the Droid Bionic, its first LTE handset for Verizon Wireless, will arrive in September. The phone was announced at CES in January, but had been delayed due to software issues."

We are glad to hear that software issues were sorted before launching, because we also know what its like when devices are released prematurely and users are left waiting for updates to sort bugs.

Atrix

Motorola has finally released the Gingerbread update for the still solid Atrix 4G smartphone. Aside from making your device run Android 2.3.4, the new firmware will also enable sideloading of apps, which is something Atrix users demanded ever since the phone was released by AT&T. The 161MB heavy download will require 200MB of free space on your microSD card along with the latest Android 2.2 software.

Moreover, it is suggested your Atrix is fully charged and that the phone software is not modified "in any way." Sounds cool? Make sure to backup all data first and then visit this page at Motorola website for further instructions.

Honeycomb 3.2

Android 3.2 Honeycomb has just been released and it includes a number of bug fixes and other upgrades to the tablet version of Google mobile software platform. Moreover, the release shows better support for multiple screen resolutions, which means manufacturers can just go nuts with their screen sizes, within reason. What we have to look forward to are 7-inch Android tablets, which are arguably more portable than their 10-inch counterparts.

Ars Technica reports:

Third-party developers will now have more fine-grained control over how their applications are presented on certain screens. There are new resource qualifiers that allow developers to optionally create separate layouts and graphical assets for arbitrary ranges of screen densities. There are also new attributes that developers can use in Android manifest files to specify the screen resolutions their applications are compatible with.

Developers have struggled with making their Android applications friendly for all types of screen resolutions, and until recently Google had not given devs the tools they needed to overcome this. It’s one of the reasons for the lack of availability of certain apps on Android that were already on iOS. With Android 3.2, developers will have an easier time getting their apps to play friendly with different tablet screen sizes.

A new feature also allows apps to go into pixel-doubling mode, which allows the apps to stretch to fill the screen if it hasn’t been optimized for a particular resolution. Apple does this on the iPad with its “2x” mode, though tens of thousands of apps on iOS are now optimized for the iPao screen.
