Samsung tri-fold phone rumored for October launch after Fold 7 debut

Samsung’s long-rumored tri-fold phone might finally be launching this year – and if the latest leak is right, it’ll hit shelves in October. The device is said to be making an appearance at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. But unlike those two, it won’t be available right away.

According to a post on Weibo by Instant Digital, the tri-fold will be shown off next month, but Samsung is holding back the actual release until sometime in October. That puts a decent gap between reveal and retail, but this could be intentional. It gives Samsung time to build hype and position the tri-fold as its direct answer to Huawei’s Mate XT, which debuted with a similar book-to-tablet concept.

While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are expected to stick to familiar territory, the tri-fold could be Samsung’s first true leap forward in foldables since the original Z Fold. It’s also the kind of product that screams “showroom device” – the kind of thing built more for spectacle than sales volume, at least at first. Pricing, availability by region, and final specs remain unconfirmed.

For now, we’ll have to wait until Unpacked on July 9 to see if the rumors pan out. But if Samsung really does show off a working tri-fold device, the race with Huawei’s foldable ambitions could get a lot more interesting.
