Honor’s new gaming laptops come with more cooling fans than you’ve ever seen in a laptop

Gaming laptops have been stuck in a cooling arms race for years, and most land on two fans, sometimes three. Honor just blew past all of that. The company launched two new gaming laptops in China this week, and the flagship Honor Win H9 comes with six fans inside a standard-sized chassis. That’s more than any gaming laptop has managed before, at least without turning into a desktop replacement the size of a small suitcase.

The H9 pairs that cooling system with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor and up to an Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti GPU, hitting a combined power output of 270W. Honor’s six-fan setup uses a 2+4 configuration, two intake fans at the bottom and four exhaust fans at the rear. The company claims a 57% airflow improvement over conventional designs.

The 16-inch display runs at 2560×1600 with a 300Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 color coverage. There’s also a 3D anti-motion-sickness feature that Honor says can reduce motion sickness symptoms by up to 58%. The H9 packs a 92Wh battery with fast charging that hits 60% in 30 minutes, supports Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.1, and comes in Black Sea or Flash White.

Below it sits the Win H7, which takes a more traditional approach. It runs on Intel’s Core i7-14650HX, a 14th-gen chip rather than the newer Core Ultra series in the H9, paired with either an RTX 5060 or RTX 5070. The display drops to 180Hz and sRGB coverage instead of DCI-P3. It’s a capable machine, but it gives up more than just the fan count compared to its sibling.

China Only for Now, With No Global Date

Both laptops launched at an event in Chengdu on April 23. The Win H7 went on sale immediately, while the Honor Win H9 opens for purchase on May 6. All pricing is in Chinese yuan, with no official conversion to other markets yet. The H9 starts at roughly $1,800 for the Core Ultra 7 and RTX 5060 model. The top-tier Core Ultra 9 and RTX 5070 Ti configuration runs about $2,775. The H7 starts at around $1,350 for the RTX 5060 model. Honor has not announced global availability or pricing for other markets.
