If there’s anything that we miss from the 90s and 2000s, it’s the arrival of transparent and colourful tech, a trend which has slowly returned over the past couple of years. That being said, Sony and PlayStation recently announced the Prism Collection, a new lineup of transparent accessories featuring DualSense wireless controllers and PS5 console covers. Leo Cardoso from the PlayStation Color, Material, and Finish design team comments:
We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers. We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5’s industrial design.
Available in three colours including “Flare Orange,” “Emerald Green,” and “Graphite Gray,” Sony says that the new accessories are designed to give users a better view of what’s under the hood with their PlayStation hardware. The DualSense wireless controllers will be available for $84.99, while the matching PS5 console covers will retail for $74.99 USD, available directly from PlayStation and select retailers.
As such, pre-orders begin on November 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM local time. In the US, pre-orders open at 7:00 AM PT / 10:00 AM ET via direct.playstation.com, while buyers in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg can order through playstation.com/store/hardware. The official global launch follows on February 4, 2027, with exact availability varying by country.
