The Acer Vero 16 is a Powerful AI Laptop that also Makes Repairs Easy

Acer has finally taken the wraps off its fourth-generation Vero 16, a new Windows Copilot+ PC that packs your usual array of high-end AI features, although there’s a bit more to it than meets the eye. More specifically, Acer has designed the laptop with an added focus on sustainability and user repairability, something that’s rare on modern laptops in this day and age.

Moving away from standard manufacturing techniques, the laptop also comes with a MIL-STD-810 certified chassis which according to Acer uses a solvent-free, powder-coated finish that reduces VOC emissions while offering better wear resistance than conventional paint. Acer has also overhauled the materials used to cut the device’s environmental impact, which consists of post-industrial recycled and low-carbon aluminum, and up to 60% and 30% post-consumer recycled plastics.

In terms of performance, the Vero 16 is no slouch either—inside you’ll find a processor setup which is can be maxed out with up to an Intel Core Ultra X9 388H processor, which is capable of delivering up to 180 platform TOPS for AI performance.

Other features include a 16-inch 3K OLED WQXGA+ display, a 71 Wh battery, support for WiFi 7, up to 32 GB of LPDDR5x memory and 512 GB of SSD storage, and a 5MP IR camera equipped with a built-in privacy shutter. The laptop also offers a decent selection of connectivity options, including an SD card reader, an HDMI 2.1 port with HDCP for external displays, and dual Thunderbolt 4 ports. For added flexibility, it includes two USB Type-A connections consisting of a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port and a faster USB 3.2 Gen 2 port.

Finally, the Vero 16 is engineered to simplify maintenance thanks to a new tool-free access latch on the bottom cover. This allows users to easily open the computer and swap out the battery or SSD, for example. For more intensive maintenance, the chassis features a detachable hinge and removable I/O port covers to streamline internal hardware repairs.
