Voice prompts—they’ve mostly been an effective method of communicating with smart assistants, but at some point they do tend to get repetitive especially if you want to ask queries in a more conversational manner. With that in mind, Google recently announced that it’s now rolling out Continued Conversations for Gemini on Home devices. As per the company’s announcement:
Since launching early access, millions of you have made Gemini for Home part of your daily lives. Your feedback has been our North Star. Today, we’re delivering on a top request by bringing Continued Conversation to Gemini for Home—now enhanced with deeper context and expanded to more users, countries, and languages than ever before.
Continued Conversation essentially allows users to have back-and-forth dialogue with Gemini, reducing time and effort needed for repetitive prompts. This also means that you’ll only need to say “Hey Google” once at the beginning of the conversation, and devices will display pulsing lights once they’re awaiting your response. Google says that the new update is a step towards a “vision of a voice assistant that feels like a true partner in conversation.”
As for availability, Continued Conversation will arrive for Gemini for Home early access users, without the need for a subscription. Users can check for the feature via Home Settings > Gemini for Home voice assistant > Continued Conversation.
