Xbox has built a working Series X console that looks like it was swallowed by an alligator, and one person will get to keep it. The one-of-a-kind console is up for grabs in a sweepstakes that Xbox announced on November 3.
According to Microsoft, the “XBOX Series X-BITE” is more than five feet long from snout to tail. The glowing Xbox logo sits in the gator’s body, where the console would be. A custom Xbox controller with bite marks rests between its jaws, and the alligator’s green eyes have pupils shaped like the logo. Xbox’s description is short and to the point: “an alligator swallowed an XBOX Series X whole. And yes, it still works.”
Creature builders at John Nolan Studio made it, the same studio behind animatronics for productions like Jurassic World Dominion. Xbox isn’t selling it, so a sweepstakes is the only way to get one. In its trailer for the giveaway, Xbox says the console is “ready to play some of the biggest games of the year.” It’s a fully working system, not just a prop. That makes it a rare chance to own custom Xbox hardware that won’t ever show up in stores, and the winner gets the one and only unit.
How to enter
It costs nothing to enter, and there’s no need to buy anything. You need to follow the official @XBOX account, repost the sweepstakes announcement and add the hashtag #XbiteSweepstakes to your repost. Your account has to be public so Xbox can see your entry. Entries close November 10.
The sweepstakes is open to US residents who are 18 or older, including Washington, DC and Puerto Rico. If you win, you’ll have 48 hours to claim the prize. Keep your notifications on, since a winner who doesn’t respond in time loses it to the next person.
The official rules can be found on the Xbox website. Entering takes about a minute, and the deadline is next Tuesday, so there’s little reason not to try.
