Vivo’s Powerhouse Foldable Arrives for Global Markets

Vivo recently announced that it was expanding global availability for the Vivo X Fold5, its latest flagship foldable Android phone. Priced at around EUR 850, the phone initially arrived for buyers in China back in June, but it’s only now that Vivo launched it for more markets, in a bid to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7.

The phone runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, along with up to 1TB of internal storage and 16GB of RAM and a beefy 6,000 mAh battery with 80W charging support. It’s a larger battery than that of the Galaxy Z Fold7, although it does use an older chipset. The X Fold5 also comes with Android 15 onboard, layered with FunTouch OS and up to four major Android version upgrades.

In terms of hardware, the phone comes with an external display that measures 6.53 inches, with a 1172 x 2748 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, as well as up to 5,500 nits of peak brightness. Meanwhile, the 8-inch folding screen is a bit sharper at 2200 x 2480 pixels, with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits and 120Hz refresh rate.

For imaging, Vivo has equipped the X Fold5 with a triple 50-megapixel camera setup, which includes a main wide lens, ultrawide lens, and periscope telephoto camera. There are also two 20-megapixel front-facing cameras on the external and inner display for selfies and video calls.
