Gemini’s Built-in Chrome Integration Finally Makes its Way to Another Region

Google recently announced that it’s finally bringing over native AI features to the Chrome web browser for the United Kingdom, allowing users to access built-in AI tools via Gemini on their browser. Google also adds that the features will expand for iOS in the coming month.

With that said, Gemini for Chrome allows users to communicate with the browsing assistant in a conversational manner, and prompt it to summarize content online, and even compare information from different tabs. As it does support integration with Google’s other apps and services, users can assign the assistant to set meetings using Google Calendar, draft messages via Gmail, and even check location details with Maps, all with personalized context in the mix.

Additionally, Gemini via Google Chrome is capable of pulling related context from previous user conversations, allowing for more tailored results for queries. This essentially means that Chrome will now give you more specific results as it knows why you’re searching for certain topics and information online. This is of course optional and users can disable access to personal data if needed.

Finally, Google says that Chrome’s AI features will comes with the same security as its other models, allowing it to pinpoint threats such as prompt injection for example, so users may be asked for additional confirmation especially if they’re using the AI features for “sensitive actions.”
