Apple Rumored to Launch 3 New iPads in the First Half of 2027

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple plans to release three new iPads in the first half of 2027. Apple has not confirmed any of them.

Gurman shared the plan in his Sunday Power On newsletter. The report names a new iPad Air, a new iPad Pro and a new entry-level iPad. It follows the launch of an iPad mini with an OLED display earlier this month. OLED screens show deeper blacks and brighter colors than standard screens.

What each iPad could bring

The next iPad Air will also get an OLED display, Gurman said. That would match the new iPad mini and give Apple two OLED tablets outside the Pro line.

Gurman expects the next iPad Pro to get a vapor chamber. That is a cooling system that moves heat away from the chip. It helps a tablet stay fast during long, heavy tasks like video editing.

MacRumors expects an M5 chip in the iPad Air and an M6 chip in the iPad Pro. Those are guesses, not part of Gurman’s report.

The entry-level iPad, which MacRumors calls the iPad 12, has its own earlier leaks. They point to an A19 chip, which would let the tablet run Apple Intelligence, Apple’s set of AI features. They also point to faster Wi-Fi 7 and Apple’s own cellular modem in models with cellular service.

What this means for buyers

Gurman’s report gives a window of January through June 2027, not exact dates. Apple has not announced a launch event or any names for the new models. MacRumors’ summary of the report does not mention prices, so those remain unknown.

Apple already refreshed the iPad mini this month. That leaves the Air, the Pro and the base iPad, which matches the list in Gurman’s report.

Buyers who want an OLED tablet right now can look at the new iPad mini. Nothing in the report changes what Apple sells today. Anyone who wants an OLED iPad Air or a cooler-running iPad Pro would need to wait for 2027. All of this depends on Apple sticking to the plan Gurman described.
