That hasn’t happened since the very first Apple Watch. The leaker even said anyone planning to buy a watch in 2027 should hold off on buying extra bands for now.
Why this particular rumor is hard to trust blindly

An earlier DigiTimes report pegged a big redesign for 2026 instead. That doesn’t necessarily mean the tipster got it wrong. Apple’s own internal plans can shift from year to year, which would explain why the target date keeps moving.
The current Apple Watch shape has stuck around since the Series 10 landed back in 2024. Before that, the design changed in small steps too. The Series 4 through 6 shared one look, and the Series 7 through 9 shared another. None of those updates were night and day.
That being said, the Apple Watch Ultra 4 is set to get its own redesign this fall. It’s rumored to bring a thinner case and a new sensor layout on the back.
